Dominican Nuns of Summit, NJ Proposed Addition

Architect for the New Wing

The nuns have chosen Justin Mihalik, AIA, of Essex Fells, NJ, as the architect for the new wing.  Sister Judith Miryam, Director of Advancement remarks, “Justin has done an incredible job in listening to us and incorporating our ideas.  Our enclosed monastic environment presents some very special needs and challenges.  He has responded by designing an addition that is not only attractive and livable but also functional and safe.”

This has been a very enlightening experience for me as an architect and as a Roman Catholic to be able to work with the Dominican Nuns, who have dedicated their lives for the benefit of others.  The Nuns have kicked off a Capital Campaign to raise the funds necessary to build the much needed addition.  Please click here in order to participate in Making the Light shine brighter!

Here is what a couple of our client’s have said about us…

“Working with Justin has been a wonderful experience. He is very thorough and he has excellent listening skills, which is critical for project planning. Our project, in addition to being a remodel of an older building, (which is complex enough) we were also building a green facility following the standards set by the  Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) rating system. When we presented our vision to Justin, he was very well versed in this area, advised us throughout the project, referred us to our current Commissioning agent and he helped make our dream become a reality.”
“My husband and I highly recommend Justin Mihalik  as he will see you through from concept, to design, through planning and  construction. Justin was a great, supportive expert who was there for us when any” bump in the road “appeared…he helped smooth over all obstacles. Not to mention that he is a truly nice guy! Thanks Justin, our LEED Certified, hopefully Silver, Salon is amazing! “
With warm and healthy regards,

“Justin possesses excellent listening and communication skills and is a highly effective team leader. He is widely acknowledged to be on the leading edge of his profession and draws from a broad base of architectural and building experience.” Jim Heuer, Owner of Heuer & Company, www.heuerandcompany.com

“I have worked with several architects and contractors over the years, however, I have never worked with anyone like Justin who I hired as an architect and project manager. Justin has, in my experience, a rare combination of knowledge, creativity, integrity, and dedication to the project. Justin treated the project as if it were his own home. He was reachable at any time we needed him. His suggestions were right on in terms of aesthetics and cost. When the inevitable unexpected situation arose, Justin handled it handled with ease, and with a keen understanding of our needs. I would highly recommend Justin’s services.” Jason Zweig, homeowner

“We strive to educate and influence our clients with the power of design in order to fulfill their mission, vision and purpose..”
